Find out what labels your favorite bands work with. If you find some new artists that are similar to yourself, you should try to know them on a personal level and find out the labels they work with.
Learn demo policies
Once you shortlist some labels, you must find out the demo policies of these labels. Due to legal policies, many labels put restrictions on the kind of demos they accept. So you should find out about the acceptable type of demos, their formats, mailing addresses, follow-up rules, etc. before reaching out to the record label.
Keep your vocal reel short and sweet
Short vocal reels wouldn’t include more than 2 to 3 of your best songs. Many record labels open every single demo they get. And they quickly reject them if you don’t seem presentable. So, try to keep everything simple. Try to be to the point with your band introduction and label your demo with your name and email address.
Follow Up
